Peabody, MA – (October 22, 2015) Energi, a leading provider of risk management and insurance services for the energy industry, last week hosted more than 1,100 policyholders, strategic partners, insurance brokers/agents and other interested parties at its fifth annual Risk Management and Insurance Summit in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. The 2015 Summit, Revolutionizing the Energy Industry, featured more than 135 speakers and presenters who discussed the future of this critical industry, and was keynoted by former Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

“In just five years, this Summit has grown from 40 attendees to nearly 1100,” said Brian McCarthy, Energi’s President & CEO. “Everyone leaves this Summit with takeaways that help improve their businesses as well as build networks and achieve personal growth.”

Guided by the theme of Revolution, attendees kicked off the week with an extraordinary evening reception at Mount Vernon, famed home of President George Washington and his wife Martha. At Mount Vernon, often dubbed “America’s most famous home,” attendees were treated to a wonderful evening of dining, music and fireworks overlooking the Potomac River.

The Columbus Day holiday began with a focus on America’s veterans.  Nearly 200 attendees participated in the Energi Challenge, a 5K Run/Walk along the Potomac River Basin to raise money for the George W. Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative. (Additional donations can be made here: https://www.firstgiving.com/399637/energi-challenge).

The race was followed by Brian McCarthy’s opening address, which outlined Energi’s success, goals and mission for the future. Veterans took center stage on Monday afternoon, with a panel featuring three distinguished veterans from the Marine Corps and Army who discussed the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life and urged Energi’s stakeholders to hire and mentor veterans of America’s post 9/11 wars. The holiday concluded with a Monday Night Football tailgate party in Energi’s Safety Stadium exhibition hall, complete with the company’s signature mobile training centers, ping pong tables, and a miniature football field where three-time Super Bowl champion Matt Light offered commentary on the Steelers-Chargers game.

Tuesday was primarily given over to learning and training. Attendees split up for 24 Breakout Sessions focused on Risk and Claims Management, as well as General Sessions focused on Risk Management Innovations and the State of the Insurance Industry. Tuesday’s highlight was a panel on Women in Leadership, which featured women leaders in government and energy discussing their career paths and offering advice to attendees on mentoring women leaders. The panel was inspired by Energi’s commitment to advancing women in the industry.

“My mentor in business was a woman who achieved extraordinary success in the insurance industry at a time when the field was dominated by men,” CEO Brian McCarthy explained. “There are so many talented women in this field, and in business and government in general. At Energi, 40% of our officers are women, and we will continue to promote women leaders in the future.”

In addition to Wednesday’s keynote address by Dr. Rice, attendees were introduced to Energi’s Board of Directors and a discussion on the future of the energy industry with a select group of Energi policyholders. They were also given a glimpse into in harrowing moments during the 2013 Boston Marathon. Boston Athletic Association Director, Tom Grilk discussed the events of that day, and the critical importance of training a staff to be engaged and prepared for a moment of crisis. The Summit concluded with an awards ceremony that acknowledged Energi’s Risk Management Award Winners, Claims Management Award Winners and Innovation Award Winners, and also featured some truly incredible personal stories.

The 2015 Energi Risk Management & Insurance Summit was supported by 34 exhibitors who brought the Safety Stadium to life, and 16 sponsors who hosted receptions, meals and events that made the week unforgettable for attendees.
