Energi Insurance Services of Peabody, MA is committed to providing its policyholders with stability, competitive and fair premiums, and the critical coverages needed in the energy industry. However, Energi also values its role as a good corporate citizen. This has been accomplished, in part, through the growth of the Energi Summer Intern Program under the direction of James Nentwig.
These slow economic times have made it difficult for young people to find opportunities to prepare themselves for the future competitive job market pool. With this in mind, Energi has dedicated itself each year to working with a group of summer interns. Not only do these paid interns gain knowledge into many specific areas of the insurance business, but they also are given practical knowledge through skills for life sessions.
Initially, each intern is matched to a specific insurance department, such as Underwriting, Finance, Product Development, Claims, Client Services or Alternative Energy, where they have an interest. Weekly, the group of ten meets with Energi Director Jim Nentwig, a seasoned insurance executive who is also a trained Dale Carnegie instructor, to discuss various skills needed to navigate successfully through life and in the business workplace. Sessions include: goal setting, pep talks, faith talks, attitude adjustments, public speaking, and also interviews with successful executives. The interns are from various universities including: Bentley, Elon, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Harvard and Roger Williams. Also the following high schools: Buckingham Browne & Nichols, Loomis Chaffee and Salisbury School in CT.
At the end of the internship, the group produced a special video presentation and expressed gratitude to Energi CEO/President, Brian K. McCarthy for this valuable summer opportunity.
